Building a solid personal brand is a fine balance of self discovery, growth, experimentation, and strategy.

A personal brand is designed to share your best traits first.

It isn’t about hiding who you are. It is about knowing what parts of you you love and that work to your advantage and sharing those aspects first.

The purpose of a personal brand is to create deep relationships that aren't just connections for today, but are contacts to propel you into your future.

So, yes, no matter what you are doing or how old you are- this is you.

A personal brand needs to be three things: relevant, engaging, and evolving.

Relevant to who you are, who you want to be, and who you want to serve.

Engaging to yourself and others.

Evolving to better fulfill your greater purpose.

Below is a guide on how to strategically build and grow your personal brand.

It is a building process. Each step adding to another. It will always be ongoing.

And once you reach the end, you will have a strong system to keep your personal brand relevant, engaging, and evolving.

1. Get To Know You

This is all about your wants and desires so we have to know what we are building and why we are building it.

  • Audit your “whats” and “whys” over the last few years to present day

  • Rediscover your SoulFire(™)

  • Edit your stories

2. Articulation.

The depth that runs through you is the gold vein of greatness that everyone is searching for. You must learn how to verbalize the drives of your life to the rest of the world.

  • Mirror Work

  • Progressive Sales Writing

  • 30 Second Pitch

3. Purposefulness.

Now that you have yourself on the right path, it is time to start being purposeful about every interaction you have.

Over the next 30 days, build the habit of always clearly knowing your “what's” and “whys.” Before you go to the grocery store, write the email, post that picture know without a shadow of a doubt what you are doing and why you are doing it.

Know what outcomes, connections, relationships you want to be spurred from these individual actions.

Track your “whats,” “whys,” intentions and outcomes. See if your actions are getting you the results you want.

4. The Outside You.

Yes your outside appearance matters. From your personal style, to your body language, to your hair, to how you hold yourself. It all matters.

I know we would like to believe that as human beings we are advanced, but we aren't.

It takes about 1 second for us to make our opinion about someone and another 2 seconds for our brain to process what we think.

So yes, within 3 seconds of someone SEEING you from across the room, seeing your profile picture, website, or video an opinion about who you are and what type of person you are like had been made. And statistically it is 89% more difficult to change a negative first impression into a positive one.

5. Cultivate.

We all have areas in our personality that we love and that we don’t love. It is up to us to cultivate our areas of natural strength and develop the areas of weakness that we desire to change.

Life and your personal brand is an evolution. Our personal growth creates our brand’s growth as well as its ultimate success.
